What Kind of Exercise?

When your foot pain begins to diminish a little, you can try to walk.

Walk

When I was healing my Morton’s Neuroma, I did get out and walk. Start with an every other day routine. Maybe just around the block. If you don’t have any pain the next 24 hours, increase your distance.

Slowly start to increase the distance of your walks. If there is any pain, just back off. Take another day off and restart.

Use a Step Counter

If you have a Fitbit or pedometer that helps to know how many steps you are taking. Before my Morton’s Neuroma, I walked anywhere from 8,000 to 11,000 steps a day. That includes tennis once or twice a week too.

But now, I believe that is too much on an everyday basis and is likely the major cause of my Morton’s Neuroma. It’s basically an overuse injury.

Try Starting out at 2500 steps a day in the beginning and slowly increase. Now, my goal is about 6500 steps a day. And if I do less than that, it’s okay.

Back to Normal Activities

After a few weeks of gentle walking, I was able to play tennis just for a half hour starting out. But again, it takes time and being gentle with your body.

And continue with the other protocols; icing, foot rolling, E-stim, etc. Just because the acute pain stops doesn’t mean it can’t come back if you’re not careful.
