Stop the Pain First! Here’s How.

Rest

Rest is the most important thing you can do to stop the pain so you can begin to heal your Morton’s Neuroma. I know…you don’t want to miss out on any fun…tennis fun…pickle-ball fun…running…walking. All the joyful things we do to provide healthy exercise. I know if it’s too painful to get out and walk or exercise, I get depressed! But now is the time to put your body FIRST. Give it the care and nurturing that is needed right now.

Ice

Wrap your foot in an ice pack. That bundle of nerves causing all the pain is INFLAMED. Cool and calm it down with a 15 minute ice pack break. Do this as frequently as possible. Don’t keep your foot on ice longer than 15 minutes though. You just want to chill that inflammation, not do tissue damage or freeze your foot!

Massage

Use a tennis ball and keep it handy. You’ll want to do this a few times a day. Just put the ball on the floor and roll it around with your foot. My husband and I have both used this to help heal my Morton’s Neuroma and my husband’s Plantar Fasciitis. And, once the pain has diminished and healing takes place, it can be help prevent re-injury – plus it feels GOOD!

  1. Hi Gayle, Thank you. I just found your site and I really appreciate your taking the time to educate others about how you healed your neuroma. I am desperately searching for answers too. This pain started about 3 weeks ago. Sudden pain, one doctor’s visit, physical therapist is unsure what to do, and nobody really knows how to address this. Can you tell me what shoes you started using to help heal this? I just bought a pair of new running sneakers along with an orthotic insert with metatarsal support. Please help and/or email. AND THANK YOU AGAIN. 🙂
